When Basic Needs Become New Beginnings

When someone arrives at Bethesda House, one of the first things we want them to feel is that they are safe, welcomed, and cared for. Before healing can truly begin, basic needs have to be met. Sometimes, the first steps toward a new beginning start with something as simple as a warm shower, a fresh change of clothes, or a meal after a difficult journey.
From the moment a survivor enters our program, we provide the essentials they need — personal care items, food and water, clean clothing, and everyday necessities that help create a sense of comfort and stability. These may seem like small things, but for someone who has experienced trauma, having their basic needs cared for can be a powerful reminder that they matter and that they are not alone.
At Bethesda House, we believe healing starts with meeting people where they are and walking alongside them as they begin rebuilding their lives. Every item provided and every act of kindness helps create an environment where survivors can begin to feel secure, regain their confidence, and take the next steps toward their future.
We are incredibly thankful for the support shown during the recent Amazon Prime Days. Because of our community’s generosity, many essential items were purchased and donated to Bethesda House. These items will help provide the basic necessities survivors need when they first arrive — from personal care supplies to other everyday essentials that help create moments of comfort, safety, and care. Your generosity plays a direct role in helping survivors begin their healing journey, and we are so grateful for the compassion and support you continue to show.
